Gordon A. Cochrane 18 July 1925 – 5 Aug 2018 Peacefully at St. Joseph Hospice, in his 94th year, Gordon ended his argument with cancer. He goes to his heavenly reward to reunite with his wife of 70 years Dorothy (1991) and infant daughter Mary (1955), his parents Gordon and Anne; his siblings, Marjorie Tice, Glenn and Paul; his in-laws, Hayden and Gladys Park. Tearfully and fondly remembered by children Stephen (Anne) of Strathroy, Laura van Zanden, Marian Cochrane Strom and Michael of London, and Maureen (David) Lee of Hamilton. Also missed by his 9 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and many friends, past and present. Gordon was active in sports in his early years – hockey and tennis, took up badminton midlife as well as X-country skiing with Dorothy. His true passion remained golf, despite his good-natured quibble with the game. He served in the RCAF during the Second World War and afterwards worked in finance and the federal government until retirement in London. Post retirement, Gordon gave to his community as a volunteer for Meals on Wheels, Children’s Aid, and St. Vincent de Paul. Funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Peter’s Basilica Cathedral, Fr. Gary Ducharme officiating. Cremation followed with interment to be at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Mt. Brydges at a later date. Thanks to the many caregivers who came to see and care for Gordon in his home, and to St. Joseph’s Hospice for their care at the end of his journey. In lieu of flowers, Gordon requests donations to Save a Family Plan c/o St. Peter’s Seminary, London; the Leprosy Mission Canada or St. Joseph’s Hospice, London.
